One time I was in a class, and the instructor came in late, threw her bag down on the front table, and started yelling at us about what a crappy mood she was in. About 20 seconds later, she stopped, gathered her things, went out the door, and then came back in, smiling at everyone and telling us all how happy she was to be there. It was confusing at first, but later on we figured out that she was simply showing us what a huge difference an intro/first impression makes.
I say that as a preface to what I'm about to present to you: Firstly, that I'm totally happy today. I slept well last night, my kids are happy and being super cute, the sun is out, my quads are less sore than yesterday, and I've sneaked a few (handfuls of) pnut butter m&ms from my 2-year-old's "potty treats" stash. Like, seriously, it's an all-around good day.
I'll now disclose the second introductory truth: the fact that I am liking absolutely nothing about today's ensemble. 'Cept my hair, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as part of the "outfit." Overall, this outfit doesn't fit my mood, doesn't work in and of itself, and doesn't flatter. And I just discovered my pants are dirty. Sighhhh...
No, I can't rock every daily outfit. But I think that's okay, because that makes the good ensembles that much better. Right, friends?...friends?...mom?...
Anyways. Jumping-off point today was the grey shirt that you really can't see. It's got an embroidered neckline that I really like but that is proving difficult to dress. And I wore skinnies all last week so I thought I'd give them a break (translation: wash them) and go with some wide-leg trousers. [Editor's note: Apparently I prefer dirty ones, because, y'know, that's just classy.] I've also worn cardigans for many days in a row, and I plan on continuing to do so during much of the 30x30 challenge. Hence the jacket choice for today.
Braided belt, metallic flats, and a chunky bracelet that has nothing to do with the rest of the color scheme but that I thought I could maybe pull off anyway. And there you have it, kids: what not to wear, Britt-style. You're very welcome.
Happy Monday.

what cute photos you take! love the ease (yet tailored) look of this outfit! very nice! and your hair looks lovely too!
I came over from your comment on Corporette. Cute blog! I'll be checking it out.
Maybe you don't like this outfit but I do! :) And I totally believe hair is a part of the outfit...I always wear my hair in a way that I think will improve my outfit. And you are so right that the not so great outfits just make the cute ones even better! (Although I think all of your outfits are great, just sayin) :)
Ehh, those days happen. Personally, I only REALLY LOVE about 50% of my outfits. And sometimes we think that all these looks we document have to be ravishing, forgetting that if the clothes kept you from being naked all day, they did their job well enough. =) Thanks for documenting a so-so day. And your hair really DOES look good.
This is so true! But honestly, you look great...I love reading your posts. So entertaining.

I LOVE your hair. Lol! That's the first thing I noticed in all your pics. Very nice outfit you have on too! I'm doing the 30x30 challenge as well! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Hey, I just found your blog and I love your style. Your hair looks awesome and I think you are just being hard on yourself because you are totally rocking this outfit.

I seriously love the safari-esque vibe of that jacket - and belting it so that it gives you an hourglass shape is such a clever idea. Gorg!! :)
Some days outfits just don't fit your mood, and that always stinks. But when I opened your post I thought, what a great jacket! I happen to think the whole look is fantastic.
Look at how poopular you are now. And to think, I knew you first. I'm so special & lucky (that's the "positive thinking" talking there.) I think the "love" for an outfit totally has to do with the comfort level. While this outfit looks great on you, perhaps when you bend over, your butt shows, or the shirt constantly crawls up under the belt or maybe (but probably not in your case since you're tall & sexy) the pant legs slide under your sleek flats. Never fear though, you look fab.
Oh you can and you DID. Good news is, Monday's over, good news is, you looked fantastic (blazer? hair? check check), so the way I see it there's no bad news. Way to make it happen, Britt!
Yes you hair looks FABULOUS. and I really do like the outfit! :)
I know you said you're not into the outfit, but it is very effortlessly chic. Everything comes together and you've "sold" it really well in your pictures.
love this outfit!
