Feelin' bloovy...

Before we commence, please pretty please tell me you're humming Simon & Garfunkel's great hit, based on the title of this post. Are you? Good. And also, did you get the pun intended with "bloo"? As in, the color. But I wanted to spell it kinda like groovy. I know. I'm asking so much of your mental synapses for a Monday morning. Forgive me.

And also forgive my sweet 4-year-old daughter, who was up all night last night [Editor's note: Sometimes people say "all night" when they really mean, say, a fairly inconvenient 2 hours. Like intermittently from 1-3 a.m. or something. This is not the case here. Please take me literally as you read my lips: Up. All. Night.] coughing and throwing up. Poor little lamb. And, let's be just brutally honest here, folks. Poor me.

Regardless, a girl's gotta get dressed for the day. Even if not until 10 a.m. because I was, and continue to be, just so very tiiiiiiiired [Editor's note: You can see it in my eyes in these photos, can't you. And I thought I was hiding it so well, too.]. I'm not sad or depressed or anything, but blue just fit my mood today.

So. When you wake up feeling like a color, and when you're so tired all you want to do is make sure you can take a nap in whatever it is you end up wearing, it's not that hard to choose an ensemble. Long sleeves under a big baggy tee for the staying-at-home nature of the day. A big soft striped O scarf, just to add a bit of visual interest to the outfit but still stay within the self-imposed color constraints. Comfy comfy jeans, hair up and out of the way, and a wide black belt at the hips. Not sure why the belt ended up on my hips as it did, but I kind of like it. Helps to prove the baggy-tee point, you know?

I'm extremely comfortable today. And I'm going to spend some time appreciating said comfort in a subconscious state. Right about.....now.

Happy Monday.

I was humming the song as soon as I saw the title. This outfit is really cute! I like the belt worn down by the hips. And your poses are awesome :)

Very cute!
I love the scarf/neck wrap!
Sorry you were up all night! I had the flu this Summer, and litterally I was up every 20 minutes throwing up! It was not fun! But my wondeful mommy stayed up with me the whole night! So your daughter will remeber it fondly!

I just read your "deets" page and... your kids are beyond cute. This, coming from a "kids are gross, keep them away" kind of person, is a huge compliment.

Brittney! Love your super fun/cute blog! And I WAS humming so...bonus points, right?

I really like the low-slung belt here + the striped scarf. Very creative way to spice up the blues!!

Haha! I love Simon and Garfunkel, AND I am a sucker for puns. I don't like sucker pun(ches)though. :) Oh. I will stop.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yours looks like a lot of fun, too. Glad you decided to start your own modest style blog! I would like to see more of us! Good observation with the "staying up all night" phrase. I totally agree, but at the same time, when I said it in college, I really meant ALL NIGHT with no sleep. That's because I procrastinated then. For everyone else that look like they had a good amount of sleep and no bags under their eyes, they really just meant one to two extra (maybe three) hours of being up late.

Is that the arms of a stripey bloo sweater wrapped around your neck? So 80's of you. Do you ever get annoyed with stuff hanging around your neck? Seriously. I get annoyed with a necklace on. What is it like to wear something so large. I like the way it looks; I"m just asking. Also, I tried on these boots today & could barely, barely, zip them over my calves so I don't want to hear one more word about your large calves. You hear me?

@all of you: i'm trying to be better about responding to comments personally...but i'm running out of time. thank you for stopping by and leaving comments, i heart simon & garfunkel always and forever amen, i think my kids are cute too (thanks to their dad) despite their morning o' scream-fits this morning, and i don't mind stuff around my neck because it's so cozy warm and reminds me of pjs for some reason.
:)
