knee-length dress no matter where the belt's placed

I'm on the fence about wearing a belt at this stage in the pregnancy game.
I've long since jumped a different fence and have run waddled a mile up the nearby hill, though, about turquoise jewelry. Love it. Amen.

boots: kohl's. slip: a slip shop. linen dress: paris, france. cardigan: j.crew. belt & necklace: forever21.

I know. My hair here is, like, 2 generational inches shy of beehivehood. All I can think about when I see these photos is that one Seinfeld episode where the lady physical therapist has "old-fashioned" hair, and everyone makes fun of it except Kramer, who totally encourages her to keep it that way. I think I might be that girl, 'cept without the medical training. Or Kramer.

I learned that heeled shoes aren't that fun to wear for 4 hours when one's body is off-balance. But what IS fun is hiding some snags in the knees of one's tights with an exposed slip. It's like a little game with the universe in which, at any given moment, you're totally winning. Which, in turn, is comparable to eating the en.ti.re. box of chocolates in one sitting so that you won't be tempted by them later. Hah! Joke's on you, Cosmos.

Happy Wednesday.

p.s. For those of you tired of and/or unable to relate to a maternity-centered style blog, I promise I will post soon about some projects I'm working on. In the meantime...belly's up.

three blind mice.

shoes: saltwater sandals. dress: somewhere in paris, france. shirt (with sash): downeast basics. bracelet: hawaii.
I figured there were three different ways I could've gone with the sash placement: (1) low on hips.
 (2) at my waist.
 (3) empire waist-style.
What look do you like best? I wore #3 (empire waist) before I saw the pics...would you have agreed with me or recommended something different?
(p.s. I know the shoes are a little off here...but I had just run a race the day before that resulted in blisters on my toes in poorly placed spots, and these were literally the only shoes I could handle for the day. So. Survival of the fittest.)

This week I'm grateful for:

- my parents, coming to stay and play for a few days.
- beachside property.
- a body that's able to run a half marathon after 2-3 spotty hours of sleep, which incidentally at one point involved a toddler sleeping perpendicular between my husband and me.
- swim skirts.
- fresh produce.
- family! friends! being friends with family! (whut the exclamation points)
- a flood-free week. yessssssss...
- when my kids sleep in.
- gut laughs.
- tantrums in the making that miraculously get deflated and avoided.
- fresh salsa.

Happy Sunday.

around the world in 80 days...or a blog post...

boots & watch: target. tights: gift. dress: paris, france. shirt: downeast. scarf: sweden. belt: forever21.

An international outfit if I've ever had one--I found this simple linen dress in a boutique in Paris about 10 years ago, and I fell in love with it. Which is odd, because it's actually a shapeless sack that happens to wrinkle if I so much as breathe while wearing it. Other than that? The most comfortable item of clothing I own. (Note to self: Purchase, and wear, more sacks.)

So. I try not to breathe unnecessarily whilst in this dress, but it makes me lightheaded. But it DOES cut down on the intensity of hiccups I experience, so that's exciting.

Hey, don't roll your eyes at me. Sometimes we have to create our own fun, especially when we live in a cold, small town in the winter. Next up: tying your shoes with one hand. What can I say, I'm a party girl. Whoomp there it is.

(ahem) So. Parisian linen, Swedish scarf, boots that were probably made in China but I'm not sure. Now all I need to be really, truly happy is some Italian ice cream. Anyone?

Happy Monday.
